Where can we find peace of mind?

Why do we lack peace of mind?

Worry and anxiety rob us of our peace of mind. Being plagued by worry-filled thoughts is painful and depressing. And the more we become aware of how powerless we are in some circumstances, the more we give in to despair, give in to depression, and give in to desperation. 

Some of us are so accustomed to feeling this way that we are unaware of the extent to which it inhibits our capacity for bravery, vigor, and concentration. We are unaware of how much it influences both our relationship with God and our interactions with others. The waves of the storms of life and the storms of emotion within our souls knock us around like a ball. However, there is hope because God promises us calm despite the storms of life. God promises us inner peace; of mind and heart.

How to experience God's peace of mind

Have you ever attempted to fall asleep deeply after going to bed but found that your mind was racing with worry, anxiety, anger, resentment, and other emotions instead? We dread situations the most when we don't completely trust God. We get exhausted and can't sleep at night because of these problems. Often, we have very little or no influence over these circumstances. Additionally, they give us anxiety, upset stomach, and racing thoughts.

We have the choice to believe in God's presence, power, and word while also believing in God's character traits of constancy, unfailing love, and presence. "He revealed his character to Moses
and his deeds to the people of Israel. The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love." (Psalms 103:7-8) 

He is our anchor in the storm. If we turn to Him and choose His ways over ours, He will guarantee peace of mind, stability, security, and hope in our lives.
"When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior" (Isaiah 43:2-3a).

Moving towards unexplainable Inner Peace

Even though it seems impossible, there is still hope and comfort to be found in fully trusting God. We must first and foremost understand that we are not alone. God is always present in every circumstance, so nothing shocks him. Second, we know that he loves and takes care of his children. Third, because the past is gone and the future is in God's capable hands, we should indeed enjoy each day as it comes. Finally, in order to experience Christ as our peace and tranquility, we must admit our weakness and turn to and cling to Him. We will then start to perceive God's voice through the Holy Spirit rather than our anxious thoughts and worries. Our way of thinking will be changed, and we'll be inspired to put Jesus at the heart of everything. Our emotions and minds need to be trained to concentrate on God's truth and His Word.

"Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts." (Psalms 139:23)



Remember what our heavenly Father has promised you when you are unable to sleep because your thoughts and heart are troubled.  He will never turn his back on you and is on your side. He is in charge and dedicated to your success in order to further His larger purpose. You are not required to carry out all of your thoughts. Enjoy each day for what it is while allowing His Spirit to guide your life.

Cast all your worries on him and leave them there. You shouldn't continue to think about them. The aspects of our lives that we worry about are those that we have not fully allowed God to manage. Grant Him complete control.  Our hope is in God, and we rely on His timing to provide for our necessities as He reveals to us our next moves. Every reliance we have on objects and people on earth must be converted to a reliance on God. Because God is unchanging and will never fail us.

"Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?" (Matthew 6:25-27)

Allow God to calm your mind. Let God free your mind from the anxieties that are weighing you down. He will grant you peace of mind if you cast all of your problems upon Him.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)

Mental health for believers

Our most powerful thoughts always direct the course of our lives. We are what we believe, so think accordingly. We will be better able to alter the course of our lives the more we are aware of this truth.

The bible offers this perspective. “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7)

Many of today's issues, including addictions, eating disorders, and various types of depression and anxiety, are the result of misguided and negative thought patterns. The first stage in overcoming those difficulties is to alter one's way of thinking.

Nevertheless, we've all made fruitless attempts to kick bad behaviors and change our erroneous thought patterns. God has the ability to alter your perspective. He has the ability to alter your viewpoint. The falsehoods that are restricting you can be eliminated. You are capable of ending the pattern of unfavorable thinking if you allow God to renew your thinking by immersing you in His unchanging truth. We overcome life's difficulties by relying on God and filling our minds with His truths from His word.

Here are just a few of God's truths:

"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you." (Philippians 4:8–9)

"Don’t be conformed to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you can figure out what God’s will is—what is good and pleasing and mature." (Romans 12:1-2)

"Although we live in the world, we don’t fight our battles with human methods. Our weapons that we fight with aren’t human, but instead they are powered by God for the destruction of fortresses. They destroy arguments, and every defense that is raised up to oppose the knowledge of God. They capture every thought to make it obedient to Christ." (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)
