Bible Verses to help overcome worldly addictions

Image
ADDICTION As long as we live on earth, there will always be an attraction to the things of this word. Due to the fact that we live in a corrupt world that despises godliness, we must remain vigilant and persistent in our prayers for all believers everywhere. As believers we are called to pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion so as not to fall into temptation as a result of our sinful nature. "Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere." Ephesians 6:18 Believers may battle with a variety of addictions, including those to food, social media, drugs, alcohol, pornography, and sex, to name a few. Through the power of his spirit, Christ has freed us from the yoke of our materialistic cravings. Here are a few scriptures that can help us fight addiction. 1 Corinthians 6:12 "You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed t

The Peace of God

Image
The Peace of God Jesus is known as the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). By His mere presence in our lives, He bestows peace on His people. His will for us is that we live in His peace, free from the worries and cares of this world. God has promised that He will never leave us or forsake us. So that when we face adversity, we can lean on Him and receive His peace, which will keep us strong and secure through hardships. "I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid." John 14:27 Everyone will face difficulties at some point in their lives. But as God's children, we have a mighty warrior on our side who walks alongside us, fights our battles, and comforts us. We are held together not by our own strength, but by His. As a result, difficulties should not deter us from our goal of living in His will. Hardships should strengthen our faith, causing us to become firmly rooted as we trust in H

Bible verses about gossip

Image
GOSSIP Gossip is one of those things that we can easily justify, especially when we have been hurt, and sometimes it is just out of our hidden hatred and malice for others. Gossip can take many forms, including venting, sharing opinions, seeking advice, and feigning concern. A gossip spreads confidential information around. They are untrustworthy. The Bible is unequivocal about the dangers of not having control over your mouth and what you say. The words we use have tremendous power to both build up and tear down. Gossip is poisonous.  There are two fundamental truths about gossip: Those that gossip to you will also gossip about you. And being the recipient of gossip makes you part of the problem.  Malicious talk or gossip is mentioned in the Bible, alongside sins such as murder and envy. The bible clearly condemns the sin of gossip. Are your words destroying or bringing life to others? Remember what 1st John 3 verse 6 says: " No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who c

Can God Change My Desires?

Image
Bad Habits and desires Are negative habits and desires like entertainment, drugs, food, and fleeting emotional pleasures stopping you from living in God's purpose for your life? We are spiritual beings with a God-shaped void in our hearts that can only be filled by God. This void will not be fulfilled if we try to fill it with money, position, success, passion, sex, gossip, possessions, power, prestige, or any other desires of the flesh and the eyes. "Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever." 1 John 2:15-17 God can rewire your mind and change the way you think Doc

The Empty Desire for Things

Image
Chasing After Things One of our deepest desires as humans is to live a meaningful and fulfilled life. We are constantly on the lookout for things that will bring us fulfillment, contentment and happiness. We long for the peace and joy that come with material possessions, successful careers, beautiful bodies, higher levels of education, popularity and recognition, self-advancement, sex, pleasure, and relationships. When we obtain these things, we often feel excited for a short period of time, but then we feel empty, and the cycle begins again, and we seek the next best thing. None of these things can completely satisfy our hearts' hunger. We all want to be happy, but we can end up wasting years pursuing things that don't bring lasting happiness.  "I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind." Ecclesiastics 1:14 How many people are happy because they have a lot of money? Are they not up all night trying t

Bible Verses about Humility

Image
What is Humility According to The Oxford dictionary, Humility as the quality of having a modest or low view of one's importance .  ( Humility )   The bible explains time and time again, that it is wise to be humble both before and God and before people. Here are a few nuggets of wisdom regarding humility: "Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life." Proverbs 22:4 "When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom." Proverbs 11:2 "But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted." Luke 14:10-11 "You save the humble, but your eyes are on the haughty to bring them low." 2 Samuel 22:28 "Do not exalt yourself in the king’s presence, and do not

Where can we find peace of mind?

Image
Why do we lack peace of mind? Worry and anxiety rob us of our peace of mind. Being plagued by worry-filled thoughts is painful and depressing. And the more we become aware of how powerless we are in some circumstances, the more we give in to despair, give in to depression, and give in to desperation.  Some of us are so accustomed to feeling this way that we are unaware of the extent to which it inhibits our capacity for bravery, vigor, and concentration. We are unaware of how much it influences both our relationship with God and our interactions with others. The waves of the storms of life and the storms of emotion within our souls knock us around like a ball. However, there is hope because God promises us calm despite the storms of life. God promises us inner peace; of mind and heart. How to experience God's peace of mind Have you ever attempted to fall asleep deeply after going to bed but found that your mind was racing with worry, anxiety, anger, resentment, and other emotions i
