Stop living with shame and guilt

SHAME AND GUILT

Is guilt and shame holding you back from living to your full potential in Christ? Are you living with fears and insecurities?
Is shame and guilt preventing you from fulfilling God's plan for your life?

Beware of people who take pleasure in other people's problems. Some people want you to live in your shame and guilt. They will speak negatively about you. They may even remind you that you are undeserving of God's love. Some of them may even be Christians. Others may be close family.

Pray to God to guide you to people who are genuinely concerned about your well-being. Much of our guilt and shame stems from focusing on what others say about us rather than what Christ says about us. But we are not our past. We are not what we did. We are who God says we are. He says we are forgiven. He says we are redeemed. He says we are free.

"Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes." (Psalm 37:7)

The purpose of shame

If the enemy cannot prevent you from becoming a Christ follower, he will do all in his power to render you an ineffective Christian. One of the most successful ways he accomplishes this is by convincing you to disqualify yourself, your worth, your potential, and your purpose because of shame and guilt attitudes.

Sometimes the enemy makes us believe that we are so unclean that we do not deserve God's Grace. The devil is a liar. God gave His only Son to save us from our iniquities because He knows that we are not perfect. If you genuinely repent and turn away from sin, believe that you have received forgiveness through Christ.  Don't let guilt and shame bog you down.

It took praying, reading his word, and fasting silently alone in my room for me to rediscover God. I wanted to return to my youthful faith, when I trusted him completely. I realized I had wasted a significant portion of my adult life pursuing earthly goals. But I thank God that I also realized that in spite of all my mistakes, my destiny and purpose had not changed.

God returned me to a state of entire reliance on him. God is more concerned with our hearts than with outward displays of spirituality. We will never be flawless. We will never be sinless. But with His Spirit in you, you can sin less. He explained it to me - "Stop hiding in the shame and guilt of your past, have I not forgiven your sins? Live in my purpose for you!" And now here I am, rooted in Christ and eager to serve him. My faith has grown stronger. My life has become more fulfilling. My heart has grown larger. I am living in his purpose for me.

Masterpiece

God, help me to remember that I’m your masterpiece. I am not who others say I am but who you say I am. My identity rests in you.
