What is the world's definition of success in life?
We go through life being told that in order to be considered a success in life, we are to work hard for a living and accumulate the comforts of life as well as achieve recognition. So we end up desiring material possessions of many types, including larger homes, better vehicles, pricey clothing and more as an indication of our success. When we get these things, we definitely experience a brief period of excitement, happiness and satisfaction, but this is soon followed by a sense of emptiness and discontentment with life.
There is a diminishing enjoyment in material things that sets us back onto the pursuit of new material things that can replace the old ones and hopefully give us joy. But the pattern is the same, we soon find ourselves feeling empty and unsatisfied with the new things.
It is possible to be happy without stuff, but we can never be happy without God. If God is not first before all things in our lives, we will not know the meaning of true joy. Satan will constantly dangle more "things" in front of us if our purpose is to acquire worldly possessions. We will end up wasting more time pursuing things that never fulfill us.
"Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions." Luke 12:15
Success in God's perspective
Our success should never be tied to the conveniences and pleasures the world offers. Material success is fleeting. We all leave everything behind when we pass away, and while we are still alive, it can increase your level of comfort in the world. However, it can also be taken away at any time, so you always worry about how to maintain and increase your riches. True success stems from contentment and inner fulfillment since each of us has an emptiness within us that can only be filled by God.
The fleeting comforts and pleasures of this world pale in comparison to our Almighty God's eternal, never-ending presence as His children. His presence is the prize. That's what we're going to get for the rest of our lives. We should set our earthly goals on the day when our wonderful, eternal future becomes a reality. Unfortunately for most people, this is a concept that is too hard to comprehend. Only God can open your spiritual eyes as they have been blinded by the god of this earth, Satan.
"The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." 2 Corinthians 4:4
We can’t insist on our idea of a bright and hopeful future. because we tend to be short-sighted and earthly-minded. But God’s ways are so much higher than what our minds can grasp. His plan is better! And it includes forever with Him, not just a short portion of our lives here on earth.
"The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever." 1 John 2:17
Look for success beyond this temporary life
Look beyond this mortal world and live a life full of purpose. It's time to stop pursuing things that will never satisfy us and to begin walking in God's way, according to His timetable, and in accordance with His will.
Life is not about the acquisition of things or the achievement of goals. Life is about getting to know God — the one who loves you and made you for Himself. You’re not really living until you’re right with God and have a relationship with Him.
"The kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit." Romans 14:17
Life as it should be
So what are the motivating goals in your life? What is the reason you get out of bed every morning? What directs your decisions and behavior? What are you living for? What is your purpose for life?
God desires to be involved in all aspects of your life, including your work or education. Not in a way of telling you exactly what to do, but in a way that pervades all you do, so that His touch and His presence impacts every decision and every action – each and every day, all day long. Walking in relationship with God. Making a difference in all that you do. Serving his people. Helping build His Kingdom, one day at a time. That is our life's purpose as ambassadors for Christ.
"I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you." Psalms 32:8
You can only begin living in God's purpose for your life, living a fulfilled life, and realizing your full potential in life once you understand who God created you to be and what He created you to do. He reveals to those that seek him genuinely the path to success. He'll restore your happiness, calm, and hope, as well as show you the path to the success that He desires for you in life. The blessing of God is found in His perfect plan and purpose for your life.
You can expect to receive provision, to experience tranquility that flows like a river, and to feel energized to face the day. God will begin to bless you beyond your wildest dreams and open doors of opportunity you never imagined were possible. He promises to bless you with life at its very best if You choose His ways over your own.
Being separated from God increases our experience of anxious thoughts and depression, and it destroys our inner peace. Trying to succeed on our own produces struggles but faith in God produces rest.

Chasing After Things One of our deepest desires as humans is to live a meaningful and fulfilled life. We are constantly on the lookout for things that will bring us fulfillment, contentment and happiness. We long for the peace and joy that come with material possessions, successful careers, beautiful bodies, higher levels of education, popularity and recognition, self-advancement, sex, pleasure, and relationships. When we obtain these things, we often feel excited for a short period of time, but then we feel empty, and the cycle begins again, and we seek the next best thing. None of these things can completely satisfy our hearts' hunger. We all want to be happy, but we can end up wasting years pursuing things that don't bring lasting happiness. "I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind." Ecclesiastics 1:14 How many people are happy because they have a lot of money? Are they not up all night trying t...
